Custom Resize Effects for Windows Movie Maker 6.0

Blaine's Resize EffectsI'm rereleasing these effects with a pair of installers, in case you have a 64-bit version of Windows

When dealing with pictures and videos in different sizes, it's often useful to be able to stretch or squash the clips to fit within the screen. You might also want to crop the edges or add a border. The following package of 'Resize' effects lets you do all those things. Preview a video of the 'Resize' effects
Steps to install:
1) Figure out if you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.
2) Pick the matching installer.

Blaine's Resizer Effects (64-bit)
The effects will get installed in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker. After restarting WMM 6.0, you'll have a several new effects for adding borders (black or white), cropping, stretching, squashing and fitting to screen.

If you have any questions on these effects, feel free to post in the forum topic on the Resize Effects

Note: These effects will not work with the older 2.x versions of Movie Maker.

  1. Hi Blaine, I've got a request

You know the built in Pixelation effect, and how it gradually gets more pixelated, is there a way so that it is permanently the same amount of pixelation?

    Thanks, GFDTR

    1. @Joshua, are you using Windows Movie Maker 6.0? Also, did you install the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version of Movie Maker that matches your version of Windows? If so, these effects should appear automatically with all other effects.

  8. Joshua, I also had trouble finding the effects but I uninstalled it (x64 bit version) and reinstalled it, and it worked perfectly. But to find the effects, right click your storyboard media and choose 'effects' and they are listed there. They are also listed as icons under the effects drop down menu, and all start with Resize:.

    1. If you have loaded WMM 6.0, you should be able to install this too. Do you get an error of any sort? I don't have Windows 8 to test it.

  11. Hi,

I just installed the resize effects under WLMM 2011 version, but cannot find them anywhere among the menus. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

    1. The newest versions don't have published ways of adding custom transitions or effects. The resize effects only work in WMM 6.0 which can be installed using the link above.
