Custom Pixelate Effects for Windows Movie Maker 6.0

Blaine's Pixelate EffectsThe standard pixelate effect changes from no pixelation to full pixelation over time. I had a request of a version of the pixelation effect that has one level of pixelation and doesn't vary over time. So I've provided a set of 5 pixelation effects with sizes of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.
Steps to install:
1) Figure out if you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.
2) Pick the matching installer.
Blaine's Pixelate Effects (32-bit)
Blaine's Pixelate Effects (64-bit)
The effects will get installed in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker. After restarting WMM 6.0, you'll have five new effects in various pixelation sizes.

Note: These effects will not work with the older 2.x versions of Movie Maker.

  1. Blaine! I LOVE what you do! I used to have ALL your effects on my old computer but I recently got Windows 7, and re-downloaded Windows 6.0 from the internet and I have tried ALL your effects but I can't even get them to appear in WMM. It's 64 bit.

I have tried moving them to the other folders like you have said but it still doesnt work. PLEASE help, I have always loved your work!

  2. Reinstall WMM 6.0 using my installer (click the page link at the top of the blog). I think you probably have a 32-bit version of WMM.

  4. That's because Windows XP only runs WMM 2.1, not WMM 6.0. Please click on my link for WMM-2.x only.

Also, check out TheFXArchive.com for other transitions/effects for WMM 2.1.

    1. It's not easy to do, but it is possible. Check out Patrick's Highlight Filter Effects. The problem will be trying to line up the censored area exactly with the face or other piece of video, especially if it is moving. But his example shows you can do it. You'd probably have to do a lot of tweaking to get it to match your video, but read that forum post and reply there if you need more specifics from him.
